PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the detection of a flaw from being obstructed by the echo scattered in a wedge by the shape of the wedge. SOLUTION: The wedge 13 for ultrasonic flaw detection is equipped with the base 21 arranged in opposed relation to a test object 4 and a slant 22 to which a probe 6 is attached. The imaginary first plane crossing the base 21 and the slant 22 at a right angle is present. The probe 6 includes a plurality of ultrasonic vibrators 15 arranged along the straight line held in common by the slant 22 and the first plane. A plurality of the ultrasonic vibrators 15 contain the first ultrasonic vibrator 15a nearest to the base 21 and the second ultrasonic vibrator 15b remotest from the base 21. The angleθof inclination of the slant 22 and the base 21, the interval L between the first and second ultrasonic vibrators 15a and 15b, the length y0 of the perpendicular line lowered to the base 21 from the first ultrasonic vibrator 15a and the angleβformed by the direction of the ultrasonic beam outputted into the first plane by the probe 6 and the normal line direction of the base 21 satisfy the formula: L<2y0×tanβ/ä(1-tanθ×tanβ)cosθ}.
