REFLECTIVE TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND REFLECTIVE TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECTOR
摘要
A phase difference-compensating element (56) is comprised of a C-plate (85) and an O-plate (86). The O-plate (86) is a two-axial birefringent member formed by the oblique evaporation of an inorganic material. A phase advance axis (L6) of the O-plate (86) is in parallel with an evaporation direction (96) orthogonally projected on a surface of the O-plate (86). The O-plate (86) is disposed between a liquid crystal display element (51) and a beam splitter (68) so that a tilt direction (L8) of a liquid crystal molecule (75) is in parallel with the phase advance axis (L6), and so that the evaporation direction (96) and the tilt direction (L8) are on the opposite side with respect to the Z2-axis. The C-plate (86) and the O-plate (86) together are disposed between the liquid crystal display device (51) and the beam splitter (48).
