A digital media channels switching method and a digital media channels switching system, used for resolving the problem in the prior art that the switching time of the channels is too long. According to the present invention, the method comprises: setting up the multicast copy point at the client terminal access device, performing a buffering process on the multicast data and transmitting the buffered multicast data to the terminal when a channel is switched. According to the invention, the jitter buffering process performed by the terminal is transferred onto the client accessing apparatus to be accomplished so that the de-jitter process performed on the multicast data would be accomplished on the client accessing apparatus. The requirements of the de-jitter process would be decreased and the buffering low waterline could be set lower, because the client accessing apparatus is the apparatus cloest to the terminals in the system. Therefore, the time period T1 during channel switching would be reduced, thus the channel switching duration will be shortened.
