An image forming device and a control method thereof are provided to inform a user of a printing progress by checking a printing error after printing is stopped whenever a predetermined number of pages are printed, and reduce supplies and offer use convenience by enabling the user to restart printing selectively. A printing information check cycle setting part(230) sets up a printing information check cycle. A printing information storing part(240) stores printing information of each page of printing data to be printed. A printing information check cycle determiner(250) determines whether the printing information check cycle is reached to the number of pages corresponding to the set printing information check cycle. A printing information comparator(260) compares the printed printing information with the stored printing information of the same page. A printing error determiner(270) determines a printing error depending on accordance. An image forming controller(290) stops the printing temporarily after the printing data is printed until the printing information check cycle. A printing unit(280) performs the printing according to a control signal of the image forming controller.
