A steam washer and a method for controlling the same are provided to selectively supply steam and hot blast and to put clothes in and out of the steam washer easily. A steam washer comprises a case, a steam generator, a dry air supply unit, a door, an opening/closing sensor, and a control unit. A method for controlling the steam washer comprises the steps of: operating the steam generator and supplying steam into a washing space(S3); operating the dry air supply unit and supplying hot dry air into the washing space(S4); and locking a door(S5).
