PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve convenience while achieving reduction in power consumption of an image forming apparatus.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 which has a plurality of hardware modules and actualizes a plurality of functions with the hardware modules is provided with a user-related data storage unit 101 which stores availability information showing which user can or can not use which of those functions, a recognition processing unit 104 which decides which user is to use the image forming apparatus 1, a hardware module specifying unit 105 which specifies hardware modules needed for none of functions that the user shown in the availability information and decided as a user to use the image forming apparatus 1 can use, and a second power supply control unit 107 which stops supplying electric power to the hardware modules specified by the hardware module specifying unit 105.
