DAMPING TAPE AND ARTICLES COMPRISING SAME

A damping tape comprising: (a) a backing comprising a thermoplastic film having front and rear major surfaces; and (b) a sheet of resilient fibers having anchor portions bonded to the film at bonding locations spaced along the front surface of the backing, and arcuate portions projecting from the front surface of backing between the bonding locations, the lengths of some of the fibers in the sheet may be disposed in various different directions with respect to each other; and (c) a layer of adhesive covering significant portions of the rear surface of the backing. The tape may further comprise optional release liner over the adhesive layer. In some embodiments, the sheet of fibers may be covered with an overcoat layer.
