MEDICAMENTS AND METHODS COMPRISING A COMPOUND THAT PROMOTES OESTROGENIC ACTIVITY FOR WOUND HEALING

There is provided a compound that promotes oestrogenic activity for use a s a medicament for administration in an amount to provide per cm2 of the adm inistered area a level of oestrogenic activity equivalent to that provided b y up to 300ng of 17.beta.-oestradiol, for accelerating the healing of wounds . Such a medicament may be formulated to provide an amount of oestrogenic ac tivity equivalent to that provided by between Ing and 300ng of 170-oestradio l per cm2 of the administered area; an amount of oestrogenic activity equiva lent to that provided by between 20ng and 300ng of 17.beta.-oestradiol per c m2 of the administered area; or an amount of oestrogenic activity equivalent to that provided by between lOOng and 200ng of 17.beta.-oestradiol per cm2 of the administered area. The medicament may accelerate the healing of wound s by promoting re-epithelialisation of the wound.
