A writing power control method in an optical disk device is provided to record a signal with a predetermined recording power according to disk codes and to re-calculate the optimal recording power through automatic recording when the recording quality is lower than a reference value. A writing power control method in an optical disk device comprises the steps of: reading out recording power corresponding to a disk code(S11); carrying out recording by applying the predetermined recording power and playing data to verify the recorded signal(S12); comparing the size of the play signal with a reference value and checking recording quality(S15); and re-calculating the recording power through automatic recording(S17): and calculating recording power through automatic recording when the recording power corresponding to the disk code does not exist(S18).
