A method for measuring actual porosity of a sealing barrier in a tank for containing fluid is provided to be implemented during an operation of a ship without stopping the operation and emptying a storage tank of a liquefied gas. A method for measuring actual porosity of a sealing barrier in a tank for containing fluid includes the steps of: maintaining pressure inside a free space of a first heat insulation layer(4) within a range of a reference value to perform the measurement and controlling opening and closing of valves(401,402,601,602) to make the pressure inside a free space of a second heat insulation layer different from that in the first heat insulation layer by a pressure difference from a pressure existing in the free space of the first heat insulation layer; measuring values of pressure and absolute temperature in the free space of the second heat insulation layer at two or more time points so as to calculate an average pressure and an average temperature in the free space of the second heat insulation layer during at least one period for stably maintaining the use state of a tank; and calculating the actual porosity of a second sealing barrier.
