A liquid crystal lens and an image display apparatus including the same are provided to drive a liquid crystal layer by means of three electrodes, thereby controlling the phase change freely. The first and second substrates are located oppositely to each other. The first electrode(122) is formed at a side of the first substrate. The second electrode(132) is formed at a side of the second substrate and has the first opening portion with the width corresponding to the first distance. The second electrode has the second opening portion with the width corresponding to the second distance. The third electrode(136) is formed at the lower portion of the first electrode and has the third opening portion with the width corresponding to the third distance. The fourth opening portion is formed at both sides separated from the third opening portion and has the width corresponding to the fourth distance. A light shielding member(150) is located at the lower portion of the fourth opening portion. An electric field shielding member is constructed at a side of the light shielding member. A liquid crystal layer(140) is formed between the first and third electrodes. |
