An apparatus for receiving a data broadcast signal and a method for processing a data broadcast signal are provided to receive a user select signal to store an application and execute the stored application, and perform a viewing limitation function by providing execution class information of applications. A data broadcast signal including a data broadcast application and an application information table is received(S21). Application type information is extracted from the received application information table(S22), and a supplementary service is controlled based on the extracted type information(S23).
