A back light unit and a display device having the same are provided to reduce the number of light sources and to reduce the manufacturing cost, thereby reducing the weight of the products. The first bottom case has the first hole(151) at a side surface thereof. The second bottom case has the second hole(152) corresponding to the first hole. A light source is arranged on the first bottom case. A light guide panel(123) is arranged on the second bottom case and emits the light beam of the light source transmitted through the first and second holes to the front surface. The light source is lamps arranged in parallel to each other on the surface of the first bottom case. A light source is arranged to the side surface of the light guide panel additionally. The sizes of the first and second holes are the same. The light source includes at least one among CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp), HCFL(Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp), light emitting diode and EEFL(External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp).
