A data record evaluation method and an optical disk record reproducing apparatus are provided to relate comprehensive evaluation of data record with data record evaluation of an individual recording pattern in order to adjust the recording condition or recording parameter properly. A control part(11) includes a code identifying part(111), a detection ordering part(113), a detection part(115), and a calculation part(117). The calculation part sets a predetermined recording condition in a recording wavelength generating part(13). The recording wavelength generating part writes the predetermined recording pattern in a test recording area of an optical disk(15) through a PU(1), an optical unit. The written result is read through the PU, a pre-equalizer(3), an equalizer(7), and a decoder(9). The detection ordering part demands the detection part to detect amplitude of RF signal when a predetermined effective pattern is detected.
