MULTI LAYER CATALYST REACTOR EQUIPPED WITH METAL MONOLITH HEAT EXCHANGER FOR HYDROCARBON STEAM REFORMING AND PRODUCING METHOD OF HYDROGEN GAS USING THE MULTI LAYER CATALYST REACTOR

A multistage catalytic reactor with metal monolith heat exchangers for hydrocarbon steam reforming is provided to increase productivity of hydrogen and maximize reaction efficiency as compared with conventional metal monolith catalysts by using pellet type catalysts, and a method for the production of hydrogen using the multistage catalytic reactor is provided. In a catalytic reactor for steam reforming comprising: a reaction part(30) into which hydrocarbon and steam are supplied to perform a reforming reaction between the hydrocarbon and the steam by a contact of the hydrocarbon and steam with catalysts filled in the reaction part; a flue part(40) in which exhaust gas with a high temperature moves to transfer a reaction heat to the reaction part; and a case(10) comprising an inner drum(11) and an outer drum(12) for forming the flue part and the reaction part, a multistage catalytic reactor(1) with metal monolith heat exchangers for hydrocarbon steam reforming is characterized in that metal monolith heat exchangers(31) and pellet type catalysts(32) are stacked in a sequential and repeated manner within the reaction part. A method for the production of hydrogen using a multistage catalytic reactor comprises supplying hydrocarbon and steam to a reaction part in which heat exchangers and pellet type catalysts are stacked in a sequential and repeated manner while supplying exhaust gas with a high temperature generated during the combustion of fuel to a flue part; and contacting the hydrocarbon and steam with the pellet type catalysts to produce hydrogen by a reforming reaction between the hydrocarbon and the steam.
