A method for testing tightness of a tank system is provided to finish an over pressure step if the test does not reach an evaluation parameter or exceeds a maximum time and delay a low pressure step unless a dynamic low pressure threshold value is less than a fixed low pressure threshold value. A method for testing tightness of a tank system includes the steps of: testing whether a vehicle has stopped or not(210); closing a tank ventilation valve by sealing a pipe with a controllable valve(220); comparing a measured time with a previously set time threshold value(230); determining a parameter to represent sealing capability from the detected over pressure and the previously set pressure threshold value(240); performing a low pressure process after a stop valve is opened(260); and finishing a tightness test of a tank system sealed at a previous step(265) if a comparison result becomes below a low pressure threshold value.
