A support plug for a paper roll core is disclosed. The plug comprises an annular body member (1) the outer diameter of which corresponds to the inner diameter of the core, and a pin (2) extending substantially centrally outwardly from the body member. The pin provides a rotation support for the paper roll. The pin is connected to the body member over a deformable member (3), by which the pin (2) can be locked to a projecting position, respectively to a retarded position with respect to the body member (1).
