A chain transmission apparatus is provided to reduce noise and vibration by employing a sprocket having two kinds of saw-tooth pitch angles. A roller(52) of a standard roller chain(50) or a bush of a standard bush chain is engaged with a saw-tooth of sprocket(11a). The sprocket has at least two saw-tooth pitch angles with different sizes. A plurality of saw-teeth are formed on the sprocket by saw-tooth surfaces facing to each other and saw-tooth grooves. The saw-tooth pitch angle is irregularly arranged along a circumference of a pitch circle(pc11). The saw-tooth of the sprocket has a circle diameter(df) of a saw-tooth bottom or a distance(dc) thereof greater than a circle diameter of a saw-tooth bottom or a distance of a standard sprocket.
