A method for updating an address book automatically in a mobile communication terminal is provided to update the address book conveniently without upgrading software from a point of view of a mobile terminal user, and enable the mobile terminal user to update the address book with a changed telephone number conveniently from a point of view of a mobile communication provider, thereby reducing the frequency of a changed telephone notification service and a call forwarding service to reduce maintenance cost. A method for updating an address book automatically in a mobile communication terminal comprises the following steps of: allowing an input device to provide telephone change data including a user name, a previous telephone number, a changed telephone number, and the telephone number of a receiver to a callback SMS(Short Message Service) transmitting server(20) using wire/wireless networks; allowing the callback SMS transmitting server receiving the telephone change data to provide the telephone change data to an address book updating server(30) and store the telephone change data in the address book updating server; allowing the callback SMS transmitting server to notify a called mobile communication terminal(13) corresponding to the telephone number of the receiver of the telephone number change of a user and transmit a callback SMS message inquiring automatic address book updating; allowing the called mobile communication terminal to connect with the address book updating server using a callback URL(Uniform Resource Locator) if the receiver reading the callback SMS message on the called mobile communication terminal selects the automatic updating of the address book; and allowing the address book updating server to update the address book of the called mobile communication terminal.
