APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ALLOCATING RESOURCE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for allocating resources in a wireless communication system are provided to adaptively adjust bandwidths by allocating a slave band to an MS(Mobile Station) in addition to a master band and to obtain a diversity effect by loading the same data on different bands. If a scheduling event for a specific MS is generated(701), a base station executes scheduling for resource allocation using a master band(703). Then the base station checks whether additional bandwidth allocation is required(705). If so, the base station confirms whether or not the MS supports slave bands(707). If so, the base station transmits the physical information of a slave band to be allocated to the MS and requests the MS to acquire the synchronization of the slave band(709). If a signal indicating which the MS has acquired the synchronization of the slave band is received within a preset time(711), the base station executes scheduling using both the master band and the slave band(713).
