A variable cutoff power control device of a portable electronic device and a method thereof are provided to suppress usage of a device expected to have a lot of loads in a system when the remaining amount of a battery is deficient, thereby magnifying battery usage. A battery voltage detector(230) detects a voltage applied to both ends of a battery mounted on a portable electronic device. A cutoff voltage table storage unit(240) stores cutoff voltage data which is a reference voltage value for blocking supply of battery power to a system. A controller(200) decides whether a peripheral device is driven, and changes a setup value of a cutoff voltage according to the driven state of the peripheral device to apply the changed value. A power manager(220) supplies or blocks the battery power to the system according to a control signal of the controller.
