In the production of light-weight concrete using organic fibrous materials, e.g. sawdust or shavings, the fibrous materials are pretreated so that the individual fibres are coated with loam or clay and the mass is then mixed with lime, preferably non - hydraulic lime. The fibrous material may be coated with loam or clay by first moistening it with water and then mixing the mass with the loam or clay or by mixing it with a mixture of loam or clay and water. In an example, 100 parts by volume of sawdust is mixed with 30-40 parts of loam or clay, 10-15 parts of lime and the treated fibrous material incorporated in 12-15 parts of cement.
|
