A METHOD OF POST-HEAT TREATMENT OF CARBON MATERIAL AND A CARBON MATERIAL FOR ELECTRODE OF CAPACITOR PREPARED BY THE SAME

A method for post-treatment of a carbon material simply and efficiently is provided to increase capacitance of a carbon material for capacitor electrodes prepared by a chemical activation process or a steam activation process, and a carbon material for capacitor electrodes prepared by the method is provided. A method for post-treatment of a carbon material comprises the steps of: (1) adding at least 100 weight parts of quinoline to 100 weight parts of a carbon material to mix the quinoline with the carbon material; and (2) heat-treating a mixture obtained in the step(1) at a temperature of 600 deg.C or lower. The carbon material is activated carbon. The quinoline is added to the carbon material in the amount of 100 to 150 weight parts with respect to 100 weight parts of the carbon material. The heat treatment process is performed at a temperature of 300 to 600 deg.C. A carbon material for capacitor electrodes is prepared by the method for post-treatment of the carbon material and comprises 3 to 8 wt.% of nitrogen.
