A backlight control unit and a backlight control method are provided to implement light emission control of high accuracy as suppressing change between areas based on measurement of the whole light emitting intensity of an entire light emitting unit. In a light emitting device(101), light sources are respectively disposed in plural divided areas. A measuring device(112) detects light of the light source of the light emitting device, and measures light emitting intensity of the light source. A backlight control device(110) controls the light emitting intensity of the light source of the light emitting device based on the measurement result of the measuring device.
