APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONFIGURATION/BOOTING DATA OF FPGA OR DSP IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A device and a method for loading configuration/booting data of an FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) or a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) in a communication system are provided to reduce a system initialization/update time and obtain system stability through a reduced download time by remotely downloading the configuration/booting data for operating the FPGA or the DSP, and processing the data with the device like the FPGA or the DSP in parallel. A processor(305) transmits data through an external bus by reading configuration/booting data from a storage medium and a server(301) in a round robin mode by a time slot unit. An EPLD(Erasable Programmable Logic Device)(320) transmits the data to the FPGA(350-355) and the DSP(356,357) in parallel by referring to a data address. The EPLD includes a serializing/deserializing block(330) converting the serial configuration/data into the parallel data, and an address connector transmitting the parallel configuration/booting data to the data address of the FPGA and the DSP. The EPLD is connected to the FPGA or the DSP in a star mode. The server downloads the data remotely by remote control using Ethernet.
