The invention relates to a method and apparatus with which the aqueous solution from liquid-liquid extraction in the hydrometallurgical recovery of metals is purified from droplets of organic extraction solution in a settling tank. The method is characterized in that in order to coalesce the small droplets of the extraction solution, the aqueous solution is made to flow through a flow channel area, the flow channels are located in the lower section of at least one droplet coalescer that extends over the width of the tank and which is solid in its centre, wherein the flow channels are directed obliquely downwards into the stream, and the separated extraction solution is made to flow through guide channels in the upper section of the tank for coalescing. |
