A method of identifying a cement-based composition comprising at least one nonamorphous tracer material is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of removing cement and the like of a sample using a strong acid, washing the residue and optionally filtrating and drying the same. The residue is preferably burnt at an elevated temperature to remove organic content and located in an X-Ray diffractometer. The angle and intensity of the diffracted rays are measured and the results are compared with pre-determined data of specific tracer materials. The tracer materials are specifically selected from the group of talc, albite, orthoclase, chloride, zeolite, mica, vollastonite, barite, pyrophyllite, bentonite, serpentine, chromite, borax and colemanite, which are suitable materials for use in cementitious compositions with their crystal molecular shapes and chemically inert features providing assistance during the X-Ray diffraction analysis. |
