Methods of treating and preventing colitis involving IL-13 and NK-T cells

Disclosed is the use of an effective amount of an antibody that specifically binds an NK-T cell for the manufacture of a medicament for treating or preventing the inflammatory response of colitis. The antibody may decrease the number of NK-T cells, decrease NK-T cell activation or decrease the interaction between NK-T cells and their respective ligands. Also disclosed are methods for the screening of substances that treat or prevent the inflammatory response of colitis.
