System, method and computer program product for on-line travel and expense management

A method in a computer system of arranging travel for large corporate and government organizations is disclosed. The method comprising: (a) receiving a customer login at an Internet web site and authenticating the customer; (b) receiving a selection of travel requirements from the customer; (c) making initial travel arrangements for the customer, based on the selection of travel requirements; (d) automatically generating a travel authorization form for the customer with the initial travel arrangements; (e) electronically forwarding the travel authorization form to an approver; (f) notifying the customer electronically when the approver has approved the travel authorization form; (g) notifying a travel agency of approval of the travel authorization form whereupon the travel agency performs reservation fulfilment; (h) automatically updating a financial system electronically prior to travel with data from the travel authorization form for the customer; (i) accepting expense data entered by the customer upon return from travel; and (j) automatically generating an electronic expense report from the customer expense data.
