Hydrotreating by co-treatment of a charge constituted of a mixture made of plant or animal oil and a petroleum cut to obtain a fuel base containing less than 50 mg/kg of sulfur, comprises: hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of a petroleum cut in a unit (HDS1) in a fixed bed using a catalyst at 180-450[deg] C in the presence of hydrogen; quenching the vegetable or animal oil flow for constituting a mixture with at least a part of the effluent obtained from HDS1 before the last catalytic bed; and hydrotreating (HDT) the obtained mixture in a unit (HDT2) in a fixed bed using a catalyst at 180-360[deg] C. Hydrotreating by co-treatment of a charge constituted of a mixture made of plant or animal oil (1-99 vol.%) and a petroleum cut (99-1 vol.%) to obtain a fuel base containing less than 50 mg/kg of sulfur, comprises: hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of a petroleum cut in a unit (HDS1) in a fixed bed using a catalyst at 180-450[deg] C, at a total pressure of 0.5-30 MPa, a hourly space velocity of 0.1-20 per hour and in the presence of 50-2000 Nl of hydrogen per liter of charge; quenching of a vegetable or animal oil flow for constituting a mixture with at least a portion of the effluent obtained from HDS1, before the last catalytic bed; and hydrotreating (HDT) the obtained mixture in a unit (HDT2) in a fixed bed using a catalyst at 180-360[deg] C, at a total pressure of 0.5-20 MPa, with a hourly space velocity of 0.1-20 per hour.
