FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology. ^ SUBSTANCE: method considers age, anatomic features and pathologic character. Treatment is carried out by strict staging order and multiplicity, where the 1st stage is lachrymal sac massage, the 2nd is lachrymal sac and nasolachrymal duct probing, the 3rd is lachrymal ducts drainage by physiologically adapted drain, the 4th - dacryocystorhinostomy. Children aged before 3 months are treated as follows: 1st stage - lachrymal sac is pointwise exposed for three times before every feeding up to six times per day during one week. In case the 1 stage is considered to be inefficient that is confirmed by positive West's test, or in case of suppurative lacrimal point discharges, the 2nd stage is carried out once followed by lachrymal ducts patency tested by irrigation. Patients aged 3 months and older are treated only under consecutive the 2nd and 3rd stages provided absence of acute suppurative process. In case in one month after the 2nd stage its inefficiency is proved, the 3rd stage is performed one month long. Children older than 2 years old suffering from atomic disorders not allowing performing the 2nd and 3rd stages, are treated with the 4 stage. ^ EFFECT: reduced treatment time; reduced trauma and complications number. |
