PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber which can open a flow passage in any of the moving directions of a piston even when valve bodies are provided. SOLUTION: The shock absorber comprises a piston 5 which is arranged in a tube 3 having viscus oil therein so as to reciprocate and so as to move relative to a piston rod 17 within a specified range, orifices 25 which can flow the viscus oil from the front side of the piston toward the rear side in the moving direction of the piston by the movement of the piston 5, and flexible valve bodies 27 for closing flow-out ports 33 by being brought into contact with the flow-out ports 33 of the orifices 25 by one side relative movement of the piston 5 provided on the piston rod 17, wherein the piston rod 17 is provided with a stopper 35 for restricting the deflection of the valve bodies 27 in the opening direction with respect to the flow-out ports 33 due to the pressure of the viscus oil applied to the flow-out ports 33 within a specified range.
