PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging abnormality of a variable intake air control device judging occurrence of overrun by easily detecting whether an operation position of an inclined magnet sensor integrated type variable intake air control actuator 30 is in an operation range or not without increasing additional parts, man-hour and with inhibiting cost increase. SOLUTION: The inclined magnet sensor integrated type variable intake air control actuator 30 judges overrun not based on an absolute value of a position sensor detection output but based on detection whether operation position of the variable intake air control actuator is in the operation range or not by a combination of operation direction to valve open or valve close of the variable intake air control actuator 30 and change quantity of position sensor detection output corresponding to the same.
