PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raindrop detector capable of enhancing the accuracy of determination of the raindrop amount by prolonging the raindrop amount determination operating period by shortening the raindrop amount determination prohibiting period to the necessary minimum, and omitting any exclusive control means corresponding to the car model with the raindrop detector being mounted thereon. SOLUTION: The raindrop amount determination prohibiting period in the next wiper blade reciprocal wiping operation period is set based on the operation signal from a wiper motor, and first and second signals which are the passing timing signals when the wiper blade directly detected by a raindrop sensor passes through a detection area of the raindrop sensor in one reciprocal wiping operation time of the wiper blade.
