<p>An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to prevent confusion between filter cleaning function and air conditioning operation by allowing a filter cleaning unit to perform filter cleaning function only when the air conditioning operation is stopped. An air conditioner comprises a body, a filter(203), a filter cleaning unit(700), and a control unit. The body is provided with an air conditioning unit. The filter is installed on the body. The filter cleaning unit is installed corresponding to the filter to remove dust sticking to the filter by suction force. The control unit allows the filter cleaning unit to perform filter cleaning function only when the air conditioning unit is not performing air conditioning operation, comprising a timer counting total time of air conditioning operation for periodically performing filter cleaning operation.</p> |
