A fusing apparatus is provided to increase a compressive contact part between a trunk type elastic member and a fusing roller by elastically transforming the trunk type elastic member along an outer circumference of the fusing roller by compressively contacting the trunk type elastic member with the fusing roller, thereby reducing the thermal load of the fusing roller. A pressing roller(132) is disposed in parallel to a fusing roller(131), and fuses an unfused toner image of a recording medium conveyed to an area where being compressively contacted with the fusing roller. An external heating member(133) heats a circumference of the fusing roller. The external heating member comprises the followings. A trunk type elastic member(133b) has as heat source(133a) within it. A support member(133c) compresses the trunk type elastic member to the fusing roller, and rotatably supports the trunk type elastic member.
