<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive capable of improving light leakage at a peripheral part of a screen, caused by changes in temperature or humidity or by continuous lighting of a liquid crystal display device, and peeling of a polarizing plate, and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device obtained using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The acrylate-based pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises at least one acrylate-based polymer and at least one crosslinking agent having a positive inherent birefringence, where the acrylate-based polymer contains 2-30 mass% of the crosslinking agent having a positive inherent birefringence.
