<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a high-accurate detection of an implant or implant image at the lowest cost as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The detection method comprises the step of inserting a measuring member into the implant or implant image, the step of scanning a jaw or jaw image with the measuring member, and the step of detecting a position and direction of the implant in the jaw or jaw image from acquired scan data, which uses a data set representing a shape of each measuring member to detect the position and direction, and identifies the shape of the measuring member by scanning at least another part that might be scanned after the insertion to determine at least a part that might be inserted into the implant or implant image and the each shape of the measuring member.
