<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seawater infiltration intake system and a seawater infiltration intake method which keep low the construction costs of a facility for taking in seawater by infiltration. <P>SOLUTION: The seawater infiltration intake system for taking in seawater by infiltration includes a holder 11 which is installed near the seashore to have a given height and forms an inner body of water 5 that is demarcated from an outer body of water between the outer body of water and the seashore, a given filtering layer 13 which is formed by depositing a filtering material 14 on a seabed ground 6 inside the holder 11 into a layer of a given thickness, and a water intake means 15 which is disposed between the filtering layer 13 and the land 25 and takes in seawater that is filtered by infiltrating through the filtering layer 13.
