PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output device such that infrared rays or visible light from external equipment is not apt to fail to reach a light reception unit by being cut off by the head. SOLUTION: The light reception unit or a light emission unit 5 for communication with the external equipment such as a remote controller through infrared light and visible light is provided at one lower-end part of a head-side part 2b of a head band part 2. In general, the external equipment such as a remote controller is used at a position below a head-mounted display, so the light reception unit or light emission unit 5 is provided at the lower end part of the head-side part 2b of the head band part 2 and then the infrared light and visible light from the external equipment from the external equipment, and infrared light and visible light to the external equipment are cut off by the head with less possibility. Further, the light reception unit or light emission unit 5 is fitted to be disposed outside a speaker unit 1, so the possibility that the infrared light and visible light for communication with the external equipment is reduced.
