PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform creation in consideration of the requested performance of each volume in a method of creating at least one logical volume over a plurality of physical storage devices. SOLUTION: This volume management method comprises steps for receiving a volume creation request specifying a storage capacity and requested average performance information, determining whether there is a free space to satisfy the storage capacity requested over the plurality of storage devices (S4003), referring to each requested average performance information on a storage means on a creation-requested volume and an existing volume which shares the storage devices when the free space exists to determine whether each of all the volumes with the creation-requested volume added to the existing volume satisfies the requested average performance, and creating the creation-requested volume when all the volumes satisfy each requested average performance.
