A lift installation in a building with at least one transfer floor is provided to independently move a lift chamber using each drive mechanism in a related lift region of the building. A lift installation in a building with at least one transfer floor includes building sections(G1,G2), at least one transfer floor(U1.1,U1.2,U2.1,U2.2), and take-away lifts(14.1,14.2). The building sections are vertically overlap each other. Each of the building sections has several transfer floors. The take-away lifts are operated from the transfer floor to destination floors. The lift installation includes two hoistways(15.1,15.2). The first hoistway is divided into two individual hoistways. The lift installation further includes two lifts disposed in the two hoistways. Another lift installation including six lifts and six lift regions(K1.1,K1.2,K2.1,K2.2) is disposed over the lift installation.
