<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive capable of improving light leakage at a peripheral part of a screen, caused by changes in temperature or humidity or by continuous lighting of a liquid crystal display device, and peeling of a polarizing plate, and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device obtained using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The acrylate-based pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises a copolymer formed from a composition comprising at least one monomer having a positive inherent birefringence in itself, at least one acrylate monomer having a negative inherent birefringence in itself and at least one monomer having a crosslinkable part.
