PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical displacement sensor capable of correctly detecting a detection object even when the object moves further than the thickness thereof. SOLUTION: The optical displacement sensor is constituted of: a light projector 11 for irradiating the detection object with the projection light L1; a light receiver 14 for receiving the reflection light L2 from the detection object; a displacement amount calculation part 31 for calculating the display amount of the detection object based on the output of the light receiver 14; a difference value formation part 33 for obtaining the differential value of the displacement by sampling the displacement amount by a certain time interval; a difference value comparison part 34 for comparing the difference value with the positive side threshold 37a and the negative side threshold 37b; and an object detection processing part 35 for outputting the detection signal indicating existence of the object based on the comparison results. The object detection processing part 35 makes the detection signal ON based on either of the comparison results between the difference value and the positive side threshold 37a or the comparison result between the difference value and the negative threshold 37b, and makes the detection signal OFF based on the other comparison results.
