PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a water treatment device to sufficiently exhibit its purification performance while lowering its cost. SOLUTION: Water to be treated is introduced into a treatment tank 1. While the water to be treated and a plurality of granular adsorbents 2 having a photocatalyst 7 on their surface are made to flow in the tank 1 by an air diffuser 3, ultraviolet light from an ultraviolet irradiation lamp 4 uniformly irradiates the surfaces of the granular adsorbents 2, which allows a photocatalytic reaction to highly efficiently proceed, generating OH radicals effectively. The OH radicals perform effective purification where organic contaminants (BOD, COD, environmental hormones, etc.) adsorbed on the granular adsorbents 2 are oxidatively decomposed, and at the same time, the granular adsorbents 2 are regenerated, and NH<SB>3</SB>and NOx are oxidized. The flowing granular adsorbents 2 are made to collide with a simple and inexpensive baffle plate 8 to be prevented from flowing out from the tank 1 through a discharge part 5.
