A composition comprising alkyl esters, with a C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>8 </SUB>alkyl group, and partial glycerides, with a free glycerol content of, at most, 2%, by weight, based on the weight of the composition, derived in an enzymatically-catalyzed reaction from saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched C<SUB>8</SUB>-C<SUB>22 </SUB>fatty acids of vegetable oils, and useful, inter alia, in biofuels, such as biodiesel, and as an additive for improving the lubricating performance of fuel compositions.
