PHYSICAL RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR AND PHYSICAL RANDOM NUMBER GENERATION CIRCUIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a physical random number generator and a physical random number generation circuit capable of easily taking out a true random number by a method.

SOLUTION: The physical random number generator comprises: an A/D conversion means for sampling a signal from a noise source whose output level varies at random in a prescribed cycle and converting it to a digital value; a digital value holding means for holding the digital value sampled by the A/D conversion means over a prescribed period; an operation means for calculating a difference between the value held in the digital value holding means and the digital value sampled thereafter; and an output means for outputting an operation result by the operation means as a random number value. When the signal output from the noise source is sampled at a certain timing, a value obtained by subtracting the value sampled in the previous time from the value held in the digital value holding means is output as the random number value, and the random number of high genuineness is obtained.
