<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device and a liquid crystal display device, which can prevent loss of light even while being made thinner and lighter. <P>SOLUTION: A reflection plate 6 of a backlight device 10 has an opening 6e to expose an input connector 18 and an output connector 19 placed on a wiring substrate 22. A reflection sheet 31 is stuck to the reflection plate 6 so as to cover the opening 6e.
