PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component having stable mountability by preventing the force rotating with the longitudinal direction of a product as an axis from occurring easily. SOLUTION: There are provided a protection section 52 made of resin; a coil wiring section 53 formed inside the protecting section 52; an external electrode section 54 provided at both ends and on both end faces of the protection section 52; and a plating electrode section 55 formed on the external electrode section 54. In a direction parallel to a mounting surface 56, the width of the protecting section 52 is made larger than that of the external electrode section 54 but is smaller than that of the plating electrode section 55.
