The present invention relates in particular to a method of processing multimedia products stored in the form of digital data in at least one multimedia unit. This method comprises the following steps: receiving a broadcasting table containing at least one indication of a type of proprietary data associated with a data packet identifier (PID) as well as with a marker; receiving a correspondence table matching the value of the marker and the actual type of data; searching for marker values appearing in the PMT broadcasting table received by the multimedia unit; searching for the corresponding marker values in the correspondence table matching the value of the marker and the actual type of data; and modifying the broadcasting table by replacing the indication of the proprietary data type of the broadcasting table by the real type of data corresponding to the correspondence table. The invention moreover relates to a method of despatching multimedia products in the form of digital data, as well as to a multimedia unit for implementing these methods.
